I am an aspiring journalist, a travel enthusiast and a rising junior in American University's School of Communication.  I am majoring in Foreign Language and Communication Media, which, for me, is a combination of print journalism and German language.

I've been writing for the school newspaper for two semesters and have completed several journalism courses.  My writing assignments have included news stories, feature articles and profile stories.  Because my major was originally International Relations (which is now my minor), I also have a good understanding of international politics and global issues.

I would eventually like to be a travel journalist, but as that seems to be a very difficult field to get into, I would also be very happy in the realm of foreign correspondence.

I'm hoping that involvement with the Student Operated Press will provide me with opportunities to write travel articles (I have traveling experience in most of Europe, including the Baltics and Scandinavia) as well as feature and news stories.  Living in D.C. provides great access to many governmental organizations, non-profits, and generally interesting people.  I will also be traveling to Turkey for the spring semester and will be able to write articles about the people and culture there, if such stories would generate interest.

Learning to Love East Germany - My head was pounding as my host mother drove me through the streets of Rathenow, Germany. Jet lag was beginning to hit hard and I could barely keep my eyes during her mini-tour of the city.
