Garrett Godwin joined The Student Operated Press in February 2006, and has grown into "a fair and compassionate" young man, according to Judyth Piazza.

In addition to the SOP, he has been on staff with The Michigan Journal and The South End, where he has written features such as entertainment and perspectives/opinions on life in general.

Print journalism is not all that Garrett has done.  He was a DJ for WUMD Radio, and a guest student correspondent for Campus Video, both at UM-Dearborn.

Garrett has also been published in North Carolina`s SOTAC (State of the Arts & Culture) Magazine, and Florida`s The Local Buzz Magazine.

Since joining the SOP, Garrett has written features covering topics such as entertainment, local news and politics.  Garrett has also written profiles of respected people in journalism such as Mike Duggan and Jack Lessenberry, and continues to write perspectives about life in general.

Recently, he has been covering news on behalf of, Newsblaze, and Petoskey.

Garrett said being a journalist and writer is one of the best things in his life. "The reason is that when I write, I can be open and honest about everything in life. It is a way of expressing my emotions, letting others-- and yourself -- know who I am: as a writer, a person, an individual, and a human being."

Now, you can hear Garrett on his new radio show, Go Now, where he continues to bring the world of Inter-tainment to your ears -- right here at the SOP.
