I am currently a first year college student at Eastern Kentucky University.  I spent four years in active duty with the U.S. army.  This service was with the intention to put myself through school when my time was up.  So far, the plan is in motion and I am attending school with a major in journalism.  My intention with this submission is to be more proactive, and to initiate some sort of, very much needed, experience and/ or link with the profession.

I am twenty- six years old, have spent several years garnering my experiences into tools for introspection.  After having spent four years in the service, one full year of that spent in Iraq during the initial war and occupation, my desires and observances are not precisely suited to the collegiate mentality.  I am not wanting to be stagnant in my move toward a career in the journalistic field, and do not want my passion and experiences to wilt while I slug away on a vine of undergraduate necessity.
