I am currently a junior at Georgetown University majoring in English, with minors in History and Economics. Strongly interested in pursuing a career in journalism after graduation, I would love the opportunity to write for The Student Operated Press to gain more practical writing experience.

For four semesters I have been an editorial assistant for the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs (GJIA), an entirely student-run scholarly publication distributed worldwide. Previously, I have served as a daily scriptwriter for Georgetown University Television News and as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Capital Scholar, an online publication showcasing academic and creative works by Georgetown undergraduates. In addition, I have had the chance to explore the educational book publishing industry as an intern and development assistant at Prentice Hall – Higher Education during a semester leave of absence last fall. These activities and work experiences, coupled with my very writing-intensive courses at Georgetown, have definitely solidified my love for writing and editing, as well as my interest in pursuing a journalism career.

I believe that writing for The Student Operated Press will enable me to learn more about the field of journalism, strengthen my news reporting skills, and allow me to gain more writing exposure. I am tremendously impressed by breadth of news coverage offered by The SOP and would love the chance to write news stories for the site. I am happy to provide my resume, writing samples, or any additional information upon request.
