My name is Tristan Mack. I am currently a senior at West Virginia University, majoring in News-Editorial from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism.

Like other students in the field, I have found it somewhat difficult to get my articles published.  I learned of the opportunity the SOP offers students like me through another journalism student and am very interested in enhancing my skills both as a writer and as a reporter.

Aside from being a journalism student, I am also a part of the award- winning Pride of West Virginia Mountaineer marching band, serving in a leadership capacity for two years.

Having the opportunity to write for the SOP is be a great honor and an exciting experience.  The SOP is not just a web site, it is a family.

Summer Day's End - So here it is. Only one more month left of this summer season, at least until school and life resumes its

College Expectations and Life- Are They the Same? - What I didn"t expect to find was a new group of people that, for the past four years of my college career, have served as a second family whenever I needed it.

Here's to the Night - Despite the sadness and the sudden loss, there is a silver lining within the darkness of these past few days; my friends will always be there. When word came, we mourned; but, we mourned together.

Deathly Hallows-- Bittersweet Ending - Rowling"s conclusion is both powerful and bittersweet as the journey to the end bears down. I couldn"t read fast enough, but didn"t want to finish.

Corbin Robertson: Good or Bad? - Citizens can tell you the governor’s name and who their mayor is, but can any of these same said people name the man who owns more than half of the coal industry in West Virginia?
