As a rising senior in high-school, I do not have a great deal of experience in the magazine industry, or in any industry for that matter. However, what I lack in experience I make up for is passion.
My passion for writing began as a hobby in the second-grade, when I first learned how to put pen to paper. Since then, this hobby has flourished, and become a commitment and a possible career choice. My devotion to writing has motivated me to make an effort to publish my work and allow my voice to be heard. Over the past four years, I have published an article in Chowrangi magazine, a short-story in Capture Weekly, and a poem in Wilton Library’s anthology of teen poetry. I also write an article every Spring for a column in the American Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA) Newsletter. My family and I belong to this organization, and I feel that I have been able to affect the members of this organization, and contribute to the organization through this newsletter.
If given the opportunity, I hope to make similar contributions to The Student Operated Press. My combination of passion and desire to work will offer The Student Operated Press a competent and ambitious summer intern.
Of course, an internship would create a symbiotic relationship. I would gain valuable experience, and an opportunity to explore what a career in journalism might entail.
Hello. My name is Sadaf Qureshi. I am a rising senior at Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, New Jersey. I am very interested in becoming involved with the Student Operated Press, and (perhaps) becoming and editor. I have attached my resumé and cover letter, as well as a few writing samples. Thank you for your time!
