Travis Morin Inspired by Marlon Brando "A Streetcar Named Desire"

By Garrett Godwin

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Travis Morin has been attracted to acting since the 8th grade. Several of his influences include the late Marlon Brando in the classic film version of A Streetcar Named Desire.

After going to New World School of Arts in downtown Miami for a year, Travis realized that college wasn`t really for him, but when one door closes, another door opens. In Travis` case, plenty of doors are being open for him. Though he recently turned 19, the young man has several projects in the works.

Travis is currently in mid-production of the controversial drama The Cure, in which he writes, produces, and composes, about a person who`s faced with a different type of cancer. It`s not about the details, Travis said, but about the response -- how to deal with it. The Cure is set to premiere next April at The Real World Festival, and following that is a supporting role in Sons to the Grave (from the producers of Pontypool). Travis stated that he likes working in Canada due to the change of climate and scenery, whereas Miami is always hot. He`ll be going to Jamaica, where he`ll have another supporting role in Valle Noir, which will possibly start shooting this November.

A big Beatles fan, Travis also writes and performs music, in which he sings, plays guitar and piano. He likes to alternate genres of music such as jazz, R&B, pop -- everything. He has a rock and roll band in the works called The Roads, and they`re now recording a song demo (original material) as well as in the process of making a CD; they have 20 songs ready to go.

Travis said he wants to direct someday in a few years, and is looking forward to working with Steven Soderbergh, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas while getting his music career up and running.
