Iranian Hercules wins gold

BEIJING, CHINA Sept. 16-- Iran`s Hercules Kazem Rajabi Golojeh has claimed the gold medal at the powerlifting competitions in the 2008
Paralympics.

Rajabi lifted 257.5 and broke his own paralympic and world record in
the Beijing`s BUAA Gymnasium on Tuesday.

He tried one more for the fourth time, hoisting 265 kg to improve
olympic weightlifting record.

Hossein Rezazadeh, another Iranian Hercules who retired ahead of the
Beijing Olympic, had lifted 263.5 in clean and jerk in Athenes 2004.

Australian Darren Gardiner came second with 230 kg and Li Bing from
China took bronze, lifting 225 kg.

With this gold, Iran`s gold medal tally has reached five.

Powerlifter Hamzeh Mohammadi, javelin thrower Javad Hardani, sitting
volleyball team, and javelin thrower Mohammad-Reza Mirzaei had
previously claimed the golds in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic games.
