New Delhi Deploys Monkeys As Security Guards At Commonwealth Games

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Delhi authorities are to deploy a contingent of langurs -- a large type of monkey -- at Commonwealth Games venues to help chase away smaller simians from the sporting extravaganza.

From Wednesday, 10 langurs will be put on duty outside Games venues in the Indian capital, with the boxing and hockey stadiums seen as particularly vulnerable to monkey misbehaviour, an official said." -UPI

The prestigious Commonwealth Games should never have been awarded to a city that has a problem with marauding monkeys.

India and China may be the preeminent world powers in a couple of decades, but India still has a lot of intractable problems like overpopulation, starvation and mischievous monkeys.

The monkey security guards (oxymoron?) should be trained to confiscate vuvuzelas. The infernal horns ruined the World Cup, and they may do the same to the Commonwealth Games.

Thank goodness for the NFL, I`d rather watch cheerleaders and the action on the gridiron than the monkey business going on at the Commonwealth Games.
