Worship Service For Pets Is A Big Hit

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The pastor of a Chicago-area church said a monthly service where people bring their pets is becoming popular.

Marilyn Anderson, a Chicago dog obedience trainer, broached the idea with her minister two years ago after noticing the large number of people walking dogs near her church, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The Rev. Paul Duberstein of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church decided to give the idea a try, the newspaper said." UPI

There is a spiritual bond between a man and his dog. My pooch can discern when I`m feeling low, and he will respond by slobbering all over me. His loving ministrations always renews my spirits.

A church service for pets is a wonderful idea for religious pet owners, and even for those who don`t belong to any organized religion.

When a pet owner takes his dog or cat to church, he`s acknowledging the close bond between animals and human beings.

Man may have been made in the image of God, but I see the divine in loving dogs more often than I see it in my fellow human beings.

To deny pets admittance into a church is an affront to God. I`m not surprised that the worship service for people and their pets is a howling success.
