Vet Warns: Keep Your Black Cat Indoors On Halloween
"A Florida veterinarian is recommending people keep their black cats indoors around Halloween, despite evidence that many fears are unfounded.
Patty Khuly of Miami said in a USA Today article there is no statistical evidence supporting urban legends of black cats being taken for satanic practices during Halloween, or any increase in animal abuse during the season, but it`s better to keep the cats inside during the season to avoid any risk."
I doubt that cats are taken for satanic rituals during Halloween, but clueless teens may harass or harm black cats on Halloween.
It`s best to play it safe, and keep your cats indoors on Halloween. In fact, it`s a good idea never to let your cats venture outside. There are too many dangers lurking outside for our feline friends.
Indoor cats are less susceptible to diseases, and they won`t be run over by cars are killed by dogs or other predators.
I hope you and your pets have a safe and happy Halloween.
