Prince Chunk, who was said to weigh 44 pounds at one point, passed on in his sleep last weekend after being diagnosed with heart disease, Vince Damiani, 20, of Blackwood, N.J., told the New York Daily News.

Chunk became a celebrity in 2008 when he was found roaming the streets of Voorhees and dropped off at the Camden County Animal Shelter. His owner had abandoned him after losing her home.
The Damianis took in Chunk in August, and he took to his new life, using a litter box in a homemade castle." UPI

Prince Chunk became an Internet sensation in 2008; his tragic tale of becoming homeless after his owner lost her home to foreclosure resonated with Americans struggling to pay their bills.

Prince Chunk had his own Facebook and Twitter accounts, with thousands of devoted followers. The fat feline was a media sensation as well, appearing on several talk shows.

Prince Chunk was treated like royalty by his new owners; his litter box was made to look like a castle.

The chubby cat`s best friend, a cat named Tito, is in mourning. We are all in mourning. If there`s a heaven, Prince Chunk is walking on streets of gold, and his litter box will be a real castle.
