Deconstructing Frosty The Snowman

Deconstructing Frosty The Snowman

By Robert Paul Reyes

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul,
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal.
Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say,
He was made of snow but the children
Know how he came to life one day.
There must have been some magic in that
Old silk hat they found.
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around.
O, Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be,
And the children say he could laugh
And play just the same as you and me.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Look at Frosty go.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Over the hills of snow.

Frosty the snowman knew
The sun was hot that day,
So he said, "Let`s run and
We`ll have some fun
Now before I melt away."
Down to the village,
With a broomstick in his hand,
Running here and there all
Around the square saying,
Catch me if you can.
He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop.
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler "Stop!"
For Frosty the snow man
Had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye saying,
"Don`t you cry,
I`ll be back again some day."
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Look at Frosty go.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Over the hills of snow.

Frosty the Snowman is a very popular Christmas song, and has been a great favorite with children since it was first recorded by Gene Autry in 1950.

Frosty is as beloved as Snoopy, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Winnie the Pooh, but Frosty isn`t what he appears to be. Frosty has more in common with the Grinch and Chuckie the evil doll, than he does with the aforementioned cartoon characters.

"Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul..." That was just a veneer, if you looked deep inside those soulless eyes made of coal you would see a hatred and disdain for the human race.

"Frosty the snowman knew the sun was hot that day. So he said lets run and we`ll have some fun, now before I melt away." Frosty was teaching his impressionable young charges that all is vanity, so we might as well live a hedonistic lifestyle. Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die was Frosty`s Gospel.

Frosty was a scofflaw who laughed at traffic cops and other symbols of authority. Frosty`s disciples are the muggers, thieves, murderers, televangelists and politicians who wreak so much havoc.

"But he waved goodbye saying, don`t you cry I`ll be back again some day. Some versions of the song read: I`ll be back on Christmas day. This verse really illuminates the wickedness of Frosty, he is filling the innocent children`s minds with religious nonsense. He is telling them that he will soon melt away, but that he will be resurrected on Christmas.

Thumpetty thump thump! Thumpety thump thump! Dear God, what an ominous sound! If Frosty the Snowman ever comes back it won`t be to spread Christmas cheer, but to usher in Armageddon.
