Mike Jones, Ginger Littleton And Bill Husfelt: Heroes Of School Board Meeting Nightmare

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Video footage has emerged of the moment a US man shot at school board members at a meeting in Florida, narrowly missing them before being shot by a security guard and then apparently shooting himself.

Clay Duke, 56, said he was aggrieved at his wife losing her job as a result of cuts imposed by the board. He fired several rounds before he was shot and injured by a security guard. Reports suggest he then took his own life."

You never know when you will encounter incomprehensible evil, it might be lurking right around the corner.

You never know when you will encounter incomprehensible evil, it might be lurking right around the corner.

The members of the Bay District school in Florida where discussing mundane matter when suddenly a man says "I have a motion". With those innocuous words Duke sets in motion a horrific few moments that could have resulted in a massacre.

When Duke takes out a can of red spray paint and draws a circle on the wall with a V in the center, everybody gets an inkling that something awful is about to happen.

The gunman then pulls out a handgun and orders the women and children to leave the room.

School board member Ginger Littleton leaves, but her brave heart and her conscience compel her to return to the hellish scene. She creeps back into the hall, and attempts to dislodge the gun from Duke`s hand by smacking him with her huge purse. Littleton`s brave actions are for nought, as the gunman retains control of his weapon. Duke calls Littleton a "stupid bit**, but he allows her to leave the building once again.

A second hero emerges as school board superintendent Bil Husfelt manages to maintain his composure as he calmly tries to talk the gunman out of killing them. Husfelt tells Duke that as the school board superintendent he is the one who is responsible for the firing of employees, and that he should let the other school board members leave.

Duke than starts firing at the school board members a point blank range, but incredibly nobody is hurt.

Enter hero number three; Mike Jones a security guard rushes in and exchanges shots with Duke. Jones hits Duke a couple of times, and then the gunman ends the nightmare by shooting himself in the head.

Duke represents the anarchy and chaos that is always bubbling beneath the surface, and Littleton, Husfelt and Jones symbolize the courage and selflessness of the average person.

Good doesn`t always triumph against evil, in fact more times than not evil prevails. But if we are to survive as a free people we must not be afraid to confront evil, and we must show our deepest appreciation to those noble ones who meet evil head on.
