Dude Jumps From Ninth Floor Of Building, Lands In Pile Of Garbage, Survives
"A man who tried to jump to his death from a midtown building Sunday survived the plunge because he landed in a pile of garbage, officials said.
Police believe the man jumped from the ninth floor of a building on W. 45th St. near Eighth Ave. a few minutes before noon. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.
The recent snowstorm caused city trash collection to be suspended.
This man simply can`t endure another miserable year, and he jumps out of a ninth floor apartment window convinced that sweet oblivion will envelop him. Instead he wakes up in the critical care unit of a hospital, with the knowledge that his prior life was a bed of roses compared to the nightmare he now faces.
He landed in a pile of trash, an apt metaphor for his life.
His only role is to serve as an object lesson for the rest of us: Not to despise life. As long as we can share a kiss, take a walk with our dog, pet a cat, enjoy a drink of ice cold water, write a poem, listen to the new CD of your favorite artist " life is worth living.
