Outrage: First Grader Suspended For Pointing His Finger Like A Gun!
"An Oklahoma woman said she was outraged when school officials gave her 7-year-old son an in-school suspension for pointing his finger like a gun.
School officials -- without confirming the identity of the boy in question -- said a student pointed his finger like a gun repeatedly, even after being told `on more than one occasion` not to do it.
Lydia Fox said her son, Patrick Riley, received an in-school suspension Jan. 14 from Parkview Elementary School in Oklahoma City for using his finger to simulate a gun. She said she pulled the first-grader from the school rather than have him submit to the punishment, The Oklahoman reported Thursday.
When I was a little kid during recess my friends and I used to play war. We would pantomime shooting a machine gun, and throwing grenades. In today`s politically-correct climate if a kid pretended to hurl a grenade he would be expelled from school for simulating using a weapon of mass destruction.
I grew up to be a semi-respected columnist for a newspaper, and not a terrorist or a serial killer. I`m persuaded that the 7-year-old student will grow up to be a productive member of society, he has a mom who cares about him very much.
Lydia Fox said that her son doesn`t understand why he got in trouble. The little kid has more sense than the school administrators because he understands that pointing his finger as a gun is just child`s play.
There`s nothing wrong with children playing war, if you take away their toy guns they will point their fingers like guns. Let children be children, don`t poison their impressionable minds with our adult politically-correct nonsense.
