Same-Sex Marriage Advocates Push For Equality On Valentine's Day
"They know they`ll go home empty-handed, even if it is Valentine`s Day, but same-sex couples nationwide, including in Texas, plan to make a political statement today by seeking marriage licenses at county clerks` offices.
`Marriage is a civil right, not a heterosexual privilege,` said Tiffani Bishop of Austin, who is active in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."
Marriage is the ultimate expression of love and friendship. A couple decides that they are so deeply in love that they will spend the rest of their lives together, through thick and thin, until death does them part.
As heterosexual couples celebrate Valentine`s Day, we should keep in mind that our homosexual brothers and sisters are still denied this civil right in most states.
Happy Valentine`s day to everyone, including same-sex couples, I hope that justice will one day prevail and every state in the union will allow same-sex marriage.
