Basketball Coach Amber Branson: Feminist Icon Or Self-Centered Loser?
"Lipan, Tx -- A basketball coach in Texas gives new meaning to the word dedication.
Amber Branson`s team was on their way to the play-offs. The day before the big game Branson went into labor.
She delivered her baby girl at 10 p.m. Friday night and was back on the sidelines at 2 p.m. the next day. She had her new baby, Leslie, in tow.
"I didn`t do anything that didn`t feel like I was supposed to be doing. And I just wanted to be with the girls," said Branson.
Her team won their game and are now on their way to the state championships."
The media are treating Branson`s decision to coach a day after delivering her baby as a heroic deed.
Branson doesn`t symbolize how far women have come, she represents the self-centered woman who puts her career ahead of everything and everyone else.
A newborn baby needs to bond with his mother, and those hours and days that a mother spends away from a newborn can never be reclaimed.
Branson should have requested a leave of absence well ahead of time, and spent the first few weeks after giving birth at home with her baby and her husband or partner.
The birth of baby is more important than a basketball state championship, but I guess we all know all about Branson`s priorities.
Branson may be basking in the praise heaped on her by the press, but I`m sure I`m not the only one who thinks she is a selfish person. I pity her family, it must be hell knowing that they come a distant second to her career goals.
You`ve come a long way baby!
