Treachery: Arab League Chief Condemns No-Fly Zone

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The Arab League chief said on Sunday that Arabs did not want military strikes by Western powers that hit civilians when the League called for a no-fly zone over Libya.

In comments carried by Egypt`s official state news agency, Secretary-General Amr Moussa also said he was calling for an emergency Arab League meeting to discuss the situation in the Arab world and particularly Libya.

"What is happening in Libya differs from the aim of imposing a no-fly zone, and what we want is the protection of civilians and not the bombardment of more civilians," he said."

About a week ago the Arab League endorsed the imposition of a no-fly zone over Libya and recognized the rebel movement as the country`s legitimate government.

The Obama administration reluctantly joined the coalition to impose a no-fly zone over Libya. The French kicked things off my sending jet planes to bomb military targets on Saturday, and a few hours later the United States and the UK rained missiles on Gaddafi`s air defenses and other strategic military targets.

America should have stayed out of Libya, the last thing we need is be at war against another Muslim country. Even though the United States may have intervened to save innocent civilians from Gaddafi`s wrath, eventually the Arabs including the Libyans themselves will turn against us.

The Arab League chief is being disingenuous, he knows that you can`t establish a no-fly zone without first destroying Libya`s ability to shoot down coalition jets. Moussa makes it sound like the coalition forces are targeting civilians; the truth is that coalition forces take great pains to avoid civilian casualties. There haven`t even been any credible reports of civilian deaths at the hands of the coalition forces.

Muslims and Arabs are responsible for most of the violence in the world today. When will America learn its lesson, and not get involved in any more wars in Muslim countries?
