Outrage: Dunkin' Donuts To Sell Royal Wedding-Themed Donut

By Robert Paul Reyes

"U.S. company Dunkin` Donuts announced the creation of a royal wedding-themed doughnut, and sister brand Baskin-Robbins is introducing an ice-cream cake.

The Canton, Mass., Dunkin` Brands said the Royal Wedding Donut, which will go on sale one week before the April 29 wedding of Britain`s Prince William and fiancee Kate Middleton, is a heart-shaped, jelly-filled pastry with vanilla icing and chocolate drizzle, WHDH-TV, Boston, reported Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the company said Baskin-Robbins is introducing a commemorative Royal Wedding Ice Cream Cake with an English garden-inspired design featuring white and blue roses."

The Brits will snatch any product, from condoms to candy, commemorating the royal wedding.

But in the States most of us hate the royals almost as much as we despise our own politicians. I won`t watch coverage of the royal wedding, and I certainly won`t buy any royal wedding-themed merchandise.

I love donuts almost as much as Homer Simpson does, but I will never again patronize Dunkin` Donuts. Why the hell does this American company feel a need to glorify the wedding of royal nincompoops?

I urge all Americans to boycott Dunkin` Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, you will be doing the right thing and losing weight at the same time.
