Alaska: Dudes In High Heels Walk A Mile In Anti-Rape Protest

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The fourth annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event on Friday saw dozens of participants teetering along at the University of Alaska Anchorage, including the head of Alaska State Troopers, Col Keith Mallard.

He turned up in a pair of red suede peep-toe shoes and found them surprisingly easy to walk in.

He said: `I had a blowout. It didn`t hinder my progress any. I just had to pull to the side and get a tire change.`

The marchers were raising money for Standing Together Against Rape, a local non-profit organisation that supports sexual assault victims."

There will be small-minded folks who will mock these men as metrosexuals who were just dying for an excuse to strut around in public wearing high heels.

But these are real men who are willing to endure ridicule to raise money for an organization that supports sexual assault victims.

I don`t mean to imply that men who crossdress aren`t real men, if that`s your thing more power to you.

Women don`t find men who wear stiletto heels attractive, but they do love sensitive men who take a stand against injustice. I have a feeling that the guys who participated in this event are going to be very popular with the ladies.

I wouldn`t be man enough or agile enough to walk a mile in heels, kudos to all the men who helped raise money for such a worthy cause.
