Would You Eat A Piece Of A 300-Foot Enchilada?

By Robert Paul Reyes

"San Antonio laid claim to the world record for longest enchilada after a cadre of volunteers whipped one up that stretched 300 feet this weekend.

A coalition of 20 restaurants marshaled 200 volunteers who gathered in Milam Park Saturday to break the record previously held by Mexico City." UPI

I love Mexican food, but sometimes it gives me indigestion. An enchilada that stretches for 300 feet, and was put together in a hurry probably won`t win any culinary awards. I hope there was a 300-foot tall bottle of Pepto Bismol at Milam Park.

Most of the spectators who were brave enough to eat a portion of the giant enchilada claimed it tasted great. If they were interviewed again in an hour, they might have a different story to tell.

I admire folks who think outside the box, the monster enchilada is a great way to promote the many Mexican restaurants in San Antonio.

I hope that everybody at Milam Park survived without having to pay a visit to the hospital.
