New Reality Show: David Hasselhoff Trades Lives With Electrician! Will He Electrocute Himself?

By Robert Paul Reyes

"David Hasselhoff is to appear in the pilot for a new U.S. reality series featuring celebrities briefly trading lives with strangers who have the same name.

CBS said Friday `Same Name` will debut this summer. Each one-hour episode will feature a well-known personality who switches places for a week with someone bearing the same name. The star and their counterpart will live in each other`s houses, meet and interact with family, friends and co-workers and experience how the other lives, CBS said.

In the first installment, Hasselhoff will go to a small Texas town to meet and temporarily swap lives with an electrical technician/landscaper."

David Hasselhoff, known affectionately as "The Hoff", enjoyed tremendous success in the 80`s starring in the science-fiction series "Knight Rider", and in the 90`s starring in "Baywatch." In a weird twist of fate The Hoff also was a huge pop star in Germany in the 80`s.

The Hoff has desperately been trying to restart his career the last decade, starring in one ill-fated reality show after another. Unfortunately, his biggest hit was a video that surfaced in 2007 that showed the has-been actor in a drunken stupor. The video depicted the former Baywatch star shirtless, lying on the floor, drunkenly trying to eat a giant cheeseburger in a Las Vegas hotel room. What happens in Vegas doesn`t always stay in Vegas, the video went viral and Hasselhoff became an international laughingstock.

I`ll give the Hoff one thing, he doesn`t give up, he`s starring in a new reality show. The washed-up actor will go to a Texas town to swap lives with an electrician. This has all the makings of a disaster, I can imagine a drunk Hoff licking an electrical wire to test to see if it`s live.

Dude, rest on your laurels and spend the rest of your life eating cheese burgers, drinking beer, and cashing your royalty checks from "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider."
