Stanford University Allows ROTC Back On Campus After 40 Years! Do You Agree?
"Stanford University`s Faculty Senate voted Thursday to permit ROTC training on campus for the first time in almost 40 years, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The decision is in response to the end of the "don`t ask, don`t tell" policy against gays serving openly in the military.
Stanford`s President John Hennessy said he would soon start discussions with the military branches to welcome back the officer training units. Harvard and Columbia have also recently taken similar steps."
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I never thought I would see this day come. I was vehemently opposed to the Vietnam War, and I didn`t want to see the armed forces recruiting in university campuses in the Bay Area.
Today I am just as vehemently opposed to American intervention in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. But my anger is directed at Obama and the warmongers in his administration, and not at our young soldiers.
The military, especially after the repeal of DADT, has the right to recruit on college campuses. I hope that university students will protest the illegal, immoral, and criminal American military adventures in the aforementioned countries. While the recruiters are doing their thing, the students have a right to chant anti-war slogans.
How much things have changed in 40 years, how little things have changed in 40 years!
