Al Qaeda, In Web Message, Confirms Osama bin Laden's Death
"Al Qaeda released a statement on jihadist forums Friday confirming the death of its leader, Osama bin Laden, according to SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors Islamist websites.
The development comes days after U.S. troops killed bin Laden in a raid on a compound in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad.
The statement, translated by SITE, lauded the late militant, threatened to take action against the United States, and urged Pakistanis to `rise up and revolt.`
Bin Laden`s death will serve as a `curse that chases the Americans and their agents, and goes after them inside and outside their countries,` the message said.
Al Qaeda has confirmed that Osama bin Laden is dead, to release the photographs of the mastermind terrorist`s corpse at this point would be superfluous.
Any American who still believes Osama is alive probably dines at Burger King every Friday in the hopes that he will run into Elvis Presley.
Osama is dead, and hopefully his hateful ideology will soon bite the dust at well. In the Middle East and North Africa we see young people risking their lives to topple their despotic leaders. These young Muslims aren`t inspired by the nihilistic philosophy of Osama, but by the universal desire for freedom.
I`m not an optimist, the Arab Spring will must likely turn into the Arab winter of disappointment. As long as Arabs cling to their Neanderthal religion, they will never be free.
But I hope I`m wrong, I hope I`m wrong.
