Judyth Piazza chats with Edward E. Romero, Filmmaker and Musician

Edward Ellsworth Romero was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan. His mother`s name is June. His biological father, was mostly absent during Edward`s boyhood. His mother divorced him and remarried Frank Romero, who was Chief of the local Light House and Coast Guard station. In High School, Romero was involved in martial arts, music and creative writing. After graduating, Romero enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for two years in California. He was honorably discharged and began attending the University of Eastern Michigan, where he received a Bachelor`s of Arts in English Language.

After college, Romero married actress Gena Kish and lived in Detroit working as a substitute teacher while working on writing projects. In Detroit, he spent time in the emerging underground industrial music scene fronting the popular, but short lived, band The Killfloor. He later moved to Oklahoma and swapped out his synthesizers and drum machines for acoustic guitars and cowboy boots forming the local favorite folk-funk trio The Meerkats.

Romero left Oklahoma to work for the U.S. Government as a Combat Simulations instructor in Germany. While there, he spent six years playing the pub circuit " in Europe as a singer/songwriter. Somewhere along the way, Romero divorced.

In 2003, Romero left Germany and moved to Los Angeles where he attended UCLA`s Professional Screenwriting Program, winning the UCLA Screenwriting Contest that year for Lullaby ". He currently works as a screenwriter, actor and film composer with his sights set on directing in the future.

Musically, Romero currently fronts the folk-noir group Jed`s Dead, which is in the studio working on their debut album entitled, You`ve Already Won, Baby-doll. "

Butterfly is a suspense/horror hybrid about NICK COLE, a straight-to-video horror director who is kidnapped by, LANEY, an over zealous fan, determined to impress him with her own film project.
