The Nickelodeon TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender has been successful for quite awhile since its release in 2005. Recently, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators and writers of the series, revealed the face of the main character for the upcoming Avatar: The Legend of Korra.
What we know is that the 26 episode series is going to take place 70 years after the events in the Last Airbender. Korra, the next avatar (The avatar is the person who keeps the world in balance. He/She is also the only person who can master all four elements: Earth, air, water, and fire) Korra is a native water-bending master, and has learned airbending from Aang and Katara`s son, Tenzin.
Unlike the Legend of Aang, the Legend of Korra finds its villainy not in a country divided by elemental heritage, but by those who use this martial magic, and those who use technology in its place. The creators have promised an "anti-bending revolutionary" who`s scary and challenge for Korra.
Many people who didn`t catch interest with the original series are starting to look into this new series, set to be released late in 2012. The technology that Korra, Tenzin, and the other characters deal with has a visible steampunk flair (Steampunk is futuristic and modern technology set in a previous era`s designs, like Joss Whedon`s Firefly.) We`ve already been promised cars and motorcycles, but images of the technology hasn`t been released yet.
