Shipping Container Converted Into A House: The New American Dream?
"A rural Maine couple said they have spent about a year modifying a pair of shipping containers they purchased from eBay into a livable home.
Jennifer Sansosti and Trevor Seip, who are both in their late 20s, said the 20-foot-long marine shipping containers, which they bought for $1,500, are now outfitted with running water and electricity on their Ellsworth property, the Bangor Daily News reported Tuesday."
I commend Jennifer and Trevor for thinking outside the box, but thousands of people have converted cargo shipping containers into living quarters. Google Image search "shipping container home" and you will see many beautiful homes made from shipping containers.
The typical American Dream of owning a split-level home with a white picket fence, a two-car garage and a backyard with a pool is out of reach for most couples.
This is the 21st century version of the American Dream, a shipping container house may very well be in your future.
Some of these shipping container homes look better than my humble little house. I wouldn`t be ashamed to live in a shipping container house, and neither should you.
