Dozer The Dog Runs Half-Marathon And Raises Money For Cancer On His Web Site

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Dozer, the half-marathon-running dog from Maryland, has raised more than $14,000 for cancer research on his Web page.

Dozer entered the half-marathon at the 5 mile or 6 mile mark and completed the last 7 miles of the race, crossing the finish line at the 2:14:24 mark, ESPN reported. The dog left his owners` home unnoticed during the race and returned in the morning on May 16. The next day, on Thursday of that week he was presented with a medal of completion of the race."

My dog, Mandy, once ran away but she didn`t get too far, my neighbor who lives at the end of my block called me to let me know she had my pooch. But this remarkable goldendoodle ran away from home and entered a half-marathon. I hope this canine inspires a lot of lazy people to jog, or to do some sort of exercise.

Dozer isn`t resting on his laurels, he`s raising money for cancer research on his Web page. I pray Dozer will inspire older folks to get with the program, and join the digital revolution. If a pooch can have his own Web page, so can a blue-haired old lady or a bald geezer.

Dozer doesn`t spend his day dozing off, get off your butt and run a marathon, write the Great American Novel or ask that cute neighbor to go on a date with you.
