Arnold Schwarzenegger Makes Another Onscreen "Stand"

By Garrett Godwin

Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting back in the big-screen saddle in the Western The Last Stand. The veteran action star will replace Liam Neeson in the lead role of a border sheriff taking on a Mexican drug cartel.

This film marks the English-language debut of Korean director Jee-woon Kim, and the first of many for Schwarzenegger, who was originally attached for a fifth Terminator movie, the drama-thriller Cry Macho, and the upcoming Governator comic book and animated series. He was also rumored for an expanded role from his cameo as Trent Mauser in The Expendables 2 with Sylvester Stallone that is set to come out next summer.

However, these projects have been put on the backburner due to news broke of his infidelity with his former housekeeper, which conceived a teenage son, and his impending divorce from Maria Shriver after 25 years of marriage and four children.

The Last Stand starts shooting in September, currently aimed for a 2012 release.
