Ping Pong Diplomacy: Iran and U.S. in Doha`s Table Tennis Cup

Iran and the U.S. will participate in the Peace and Sport Table Tennis Cup which will take place in Doha, Qatar on 21 and 22 of November.  

Altogether 10 teams namely, Qatar (host), China, India, Iran, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Pakistan, Russia and the U.S. will take part in the two-day competitions. 

Organized by the Qatar Table Tennis Association with the support of the Qatar Olympic Committee, under the leadership of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and the guidance of Peace and Sport, the event will see elite players compete in the two days event. 

In the doubles events, partnerships will be created with players from different nations symbolizing the unifying objectives of the event, according to ITTF.  

Joel Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, said: "Sport goes far beyond competitions and games. Many historic and recent examples demonstrate that it acts as a major political lever that can serve as a mediator in the international diplomatic arena."
