Pop Icon Amy Winehouse To Be Honored At VMA's

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Amy Winehouse has never been a part of the MTV Video Music Awards - in 2007, she pulled out of a performance at the awards show after canceling her entire North American tour. But this year, she`ll be one of the biggest highlights when the awards show pays special tribute to the late singer." -

The eccentric and wacky Amy Winehouse opened the door for other unconventional but talented performers like Lily Allen and Adele. These two British songbirds with more bounce to the ounce might have been kicked to the curb if it hadn`t been for the success of Winehouse.

The British chanteuse also had influence on this side of the pond, Lady Gaga was emboldened to let her freak flag fly high due to the UK singer`s example. It`s only fitting that the American music community celebrate the life and career of the troubled singer.

In addition to honoring Winehouse, the MTV Video Music Awards show will also feature a special tribute to Britney Spears. Britney has had a few memorable moments at the MTV Video Music Awards show, but will all due respect to the blond diva, it should all be about Amy on that night.
