President Barack Obama Tells Qadhafi It's Time to Step Down

By Donna Cavanagh

Moammar Qadhafi may have lost his hold on embattled Libya. According to the White House, the momentum against the Qadhafi regime has definitely shifted, and the regime might be ready to topple.

President Obama is urging Qadhafi to relinquish his authority immediately and end the bloodshed that has plagued the country since the struggle for power began earlier this year. The White House has announced also that it views the Transitional National Council or TNC as the official government of Libya.

President Obama is urging the TNC to show leadership and courage during this transition so that Libya can move on without more bloodshed.  He urged the TNC to do whatever possible to ensure the rights of the Libyan people and the institutions of the country as they move forward to a more democratic state.

The United States Government and President Obama reminded the people of Libya that their future is now in their own hands. They fought for their freedom and now it`s time to work together so that all Libyan citizens can participate in the re-birth of their nation.

President Obama has said that the United States will work with the TNC and continue to insist that the rights of all Libyans are protected during this pivotal era. President Obama has promised to continue to cooperate with US allies and the international community to protect the rights of the Libyan people in hopes that they, as a country, can bring about a peaceful transition to democracy.
