Group Sets Guinness World Record For Bar-Hopping

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A group of 13 drinkers visited 200 bars throughout New York`s Manhattan to set a new Guinness World Record for most pubs visited within a 24-hour-period."

I wince when I read about the pain, suffering and humiliation that some people endure to set world records. I wouldn`t crawl on my knees for a mile while juggling two chainsaws just to set a Guinness World Record.

But here`s a record that I wouldn`t mind attempting to break -- what`s more fun than going bar-hopping in one of the most exciting cities in the world? Even if I didn`t break the record, I would be too drunk to give a hoot!

In order to break the previous record of having a drink at 170 bars and dives within a day, one member of the group had to drink at least a half pint at each bar they crawled into.

I applaud the Lucky 13 group, in fact I`ll drink a beer in their honor!
