Tourism is at its peak in Kenya with remarkable number of tourists flocking in. The most distinguished destinations lie along the country`s coastal strip which are characterized by beautiful sandy beaches, coastal cuisines and of course a beautiful weather. Popular towns include Mombasa, Malindi and Lamu.
More often than not,the country registers a great number of tourists (popularly referred by locals as `wazungu`) during the summer time in Africa. This is a positive effect to the country`s economy due to foreign exchange.
Naturally, the period between September and December is generally warm weather. This time around though, the weather seems to be unpredictable. The cool front which lasts from between May to mid August is slowly dragging into September. However, there is nothing to worry about as it is not extremely cold. Besides, Kenya has other beautiful destinations that our tourists can visit when it gets too cold to hang around the beach.
These include National parks, museums and wetlands like Lake Victoria among other stunning landscapes which include Mount Kenya. Our tourists can also enjoy beautiful cultural dances at The Bomas of Kenya which is located a few kilometers from Kenya`s capital city (Nairobi). Apart from the dances, tourists can also get the chance to see different home structures belonging to the 43 Kenyan tribes.
There is however a one stop point that tourists should not miss; this is the Maasai Market. It is located right at the center of Nairobi`s Business District next to Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) where most meetings with foreign dignitaries occur.
Maasai Market has the best of the county`s pieces of art . From curved soapstone, woven baskets all the way to neatly made fabrics, this market avails a large variety of art pieces from which one can choose from. So as you shop for beach wear for your Kenyan getaway, do not forget to keep some cash to buy some of these pieces. Otherwise, how would you prove your friends that you came to US President Barrack Obama`s homeland without anything to show for?
Have a safe flight, I am positive you will enjoy your stay `KARIBU` (Welcome)
