PossessionPoints Publishes Annual Season Preview for NFL Teams

By Donna Cavanagh

Philadelphia - PossessionPoints.com has completed and posted its annual Season Preview issue for the 2011 NFL season. The yearly magazine, which can be found at PossessionPoints.com, analyzes each NFL team and its additions and subtractions in personnel. The Season Preview also projects how conferences and teams will perform during the season.

"Our subscribers love the season preview," said Ed Cavanagh, data analysis expert and co-founder of

PossessionPoints.com. "It is very detailed and because we use our stat to arrive at our analysis, we give readers a different perspective than they would normally get from traditional media."

Since the first issue was published in 2007, the Season Preview has proven to be an exceptional analysis too predicting the correct outcome of games with an accuracy of between 57 to 65 percent.

"We want fans to have all the information they can before the first game of the season," Cavanagh noted. " It was a bit tougher a job this year because the lockout dragged on so long."

The trademarked PossessionPoints stat is a blended stat based on offensive scoring drive using points, time of possession and quarter in which the drive was completed. The stat works as an in-game indicator as well as a predictor for future games and helps with fantasy football selections as well. In the last four years, the win-loss percentage using PossessionPoints.com each week has been greater than 61 percent.

"It is a fun way to look at the NFL and we are the only ones that offer this view," Cavanagh explained.

This year, PossessionPoints.com is free, but subscribers must register on the site so that they can receive matchup and fantasy information and updates via email. PossessionPoints publishes a weekly newsletter on all the games and updates are made during games as well, so fans can see how their teams are faring.
