There is ongoing rescue operations at one of Kenya`s slum-Sinai areas that is located in Nairobi`s Eastland area. According to eyewitnesses, a pipeline passing through the slum burst this morning and it is suspected that people started siphoning it.

The rescue operation was quite hectic this morning as it was also drizzling. It has so far been confirmed that close to 109 people have died. The country`s national hospital- Kenyatta has admitted 112 people with servere burns (30-90%).

According to the hospital`s management team, the patients are now in a stable condition. They are however calling for donations for blood and blankets saying that this kind of disaster overstretches their resources.

Sinai survivors say the rescue efforts were delayed and those who came on time were terrified by the big fire. They are however calling on the government for help.

So far Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and the area`s Member of Parliament Gideon Mbuvi have been to the site. A military chopper is also present helping with rescue operations.
