Varsity Life: WOSWA To Launch Mentorship Club

By Sophie Akinyi

University going women will this weekend experience new transformation through Women Student Welfare Association (WOSWA).

The mentorship programme which will be launched on 22nd October this year will see renowned personalities guide varsity students away from the negative perception given to them by the society and local media.

For a long time, there have been media reports on how female varsity students engage in immoral behaviors just to get money. This trend has in some instances led to contracting of STI`s and the most deadly one-HIV/AIDS.

Some women have also lost their lives and got physically and emotionally bruised as a result. This programme that will be held at University of Nairobi (Main campus` Great Court Grounds) is aimed at empowering women by encouraging them to be all rounded.

Majority of the females who get to university are supposedly bright persons. Their ways sometimes change along the way due to peer pressure and the feeling of being the inferior s(e)x. This draws them to giving in to malicious men advances who take advantage of them.

Students` present will get the privilege to interact, unite and make connections with mentors who are more mature and have been through it but still excelling. Core speakers at the event will include presidential aspirant Martha Karua,Haco Chairman Chris Kirubi,Mumias Sugar CEO Evans Kidero among others.

The list is not yet complete as those who wish to be mentors can still express their interest through
