Authorities Halt Religious Procession Restriction Imposed in Indian Kashmir

Srinagar, India: The authorities in Indian Kashmir on Sunday imposed restrictions in several parts of the city to prevent the Kashmiri Shiite Muslim from taking out religious processions.

"We Imposed Restrictions in the city as a precautionary measure," top officer of Kashmir police Syed Aashiq Bukhari told The SOP.

Baton-wielding police personal were seen guarding the streets of Indian Kashmir to thwart any procession.

Meanwhile, several Kashmir mourners were wounded when police resorted to baton charge and teargas shelling near Jahangir Chowk and Maisuma to disperse a Muharram religious procession on Sunday, witnesses said.
