Canine Dimensions: An Innovative Methodology Based on Observations of How Dogs Communicate
|

Canine Dimensions is the company that we have been delving into week after week, and the response has been truly amazing. As many fans, animal lovers, concerned animal owners, and entrepreneurs who are very much interested in becoming a franchisee of Canine Dimensions have stated - this is a company that has a very real goal, and a proven method of providing dog owners with capable, reliable and responsible people to train their `best friends.` Canine Dimensions has an innovative methodology based on the observations of how dogs communicate with one another, and their franchise owners provide in-home dog training services to clients across the country using this unique proprietary method. Each month we have been reading about franchisees of Canine Dimensions sharing stories of how their decisions to open Canine Dimensions` franchises have literally changed their lives. Each and every one of these amazing people possessed a deep-seeded need to express themselves in a job they truly felt was right for them. These franchisees were not only drawn to the concept of the Canine Dimensions` program - feeling that the custom in-home dog training system was the best to learn and institute - but they are also people who had the urge to help others. In this article, we have been lucky enough to speak with an amazing couple - Juan and Irais Faura. This husband and wife team have a truly amazing story as to how they embarked on a Canine Dimensions franchise opportunity. Their trainers serve the entire Dallas Metroplex area as well as Dallas, Collin and Tarrant counties. Juan and Irais Faura are both certified dog behavior advisors and members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the International Association of Canine Professionals. They are also certified evaluators for the AKC Canine Good Citizen program. Their list of skills and wealth of talents when it comes to the world of dog training are abundant, to say the least. Juan was an executive in the marketing industry but had a lifetime passion for dogs. He began his "canine` experience when he was a child in Mexico City, with strays and homeless canines. It was as a young adult that Juan began to demonstrate a `knack` for handling large, difficult dogs with ease. Later, he helped friends and family members train their newly adopted or purchased dogs, as well as corrected unwanted behavior by dogs they had been living with for years. As time went on, Juan had an extremely successful career in advertising, and authored two books. However, when he felt that he had found the right opportunity to start his "dream career` - working with dogs full-time - Juan sold his advertising agency and began his career as a professional dog trainer with Canine Dimensions. As Juan states: At this point in time, Canine Dimensions was a very young company, but Phil (Guida) seemed to know what he was doing and I am not `risk averse.` I have published two books on marketing and I have spoken at various conferences on the subject. Thus, it seems that fear was certainly not an issue when it came to Juan embarking on a new business venture. Irais, the other member of this extremely skilled duo, holds a degree in psychology - something that she has said is very useful in her development as a dog trainer. Irais has that very rare "soft touch` - the ability to break through to dogs that may seem hard headed or stubborn - by utilizing patience and cynopraxic (i.e., dog friendly) training techniques. Like Juan, Irais has worked with dogs since she was a child, having also been exposed to packs of stray or homeless dogs in her native Guadalajara, Mexico. Juan and Irais have developed a reputation as being among the best dog trainers in Texas, being the training directors for Paws In The City, a non-profit, no-kill shelter based in Dallas, as well as many other programs to which they contribute in their community. One of those programs involves the teaching of young men who have been convicted and sent to a place called Youth Village. At Dallas County`s Youth Village, a juvenile justice residential center where boys receive education and vocational training, every three weeks, eight young men - with a rescue dog assigned to every team of two - get taught the skills necessary to train a dog that will eventually be placed up for adoption. They work on their patience, their anger issues, their confidence and their ability to empathize. This is really an amazing program for the canine as well as the juvenile, considering that juvenile offenders don`t really grasp the fact that they can make a huge `positive` difference in life. In fact, all they seem to understand are what the streets and gangs have taught them. But the P.R.E.P. program (which stands for Patience, Responsibility, Empathy and Partnership) can show the young men that through leadership and commitment, they can save a dog from a shelter and make it suitable for adoption. The dogs learn to be less fearful and the young men learn the benefits of positive reinforcement and nonviolence. These young men who know what it`s like to have people give up on them, make the decision not to give up on their dogs. In 2009, Dallas County contracted with Juan and Irais (Canine Dimensions, Dallas) to run the P.R.E.P. program which is certainly a benefit to the young adults who need someone to show them that they are reliable and beneficial beings to this world. "What these guys put into their dog is exactly what they`re going to get back," Irais Faura said. The dogs are great teachers. The guys end up loving and forming this great relationship with their dog. And, in fact, there are past participants of the program who are now truly convinced that working with dogs is in their future. Canine Dimensions, Dallas has become a truly substantial organization that helps many different areas of the community. Juan, Irais and their own dogs - Lola the Boxer and Baron the Dogue de Bordeaux - have proven that Canine Dimensions is a true `jewel` in the crown of The BigD.` As we spoke about last week, when observing the Franchise Outlook, this fantastic franchise opportunity is definitely a lucrative one - with the APPA earning the growth they projected from 2008 on as pet services - such as dog training - increased over 6% with no sign of slowing down for 2012. Pets are a focus of American consumers right now, and with the Canine Dimensions dog training franchise system, people actually learn everything there is to know in order to earn a good living in this challenging and rewarding field. Even though the statistics are phenomenal as far as a strong financial base is concerned, Canine Dimensions also allows people to receive something new from their job - the ability to be happy with their work and surrounded by some truly extraordinary clients. In as little as ninety days, the Canine Dimensions franchise program is up and running in your community, and offers a sense of pride and reward as you help, support and train one of the most vital `beings` on the planet. Juan and Irais Faura have certainly shown that Canine Dimensions is a `gift` for them as well as their community. In fact, with the amount of work that goes into helping others better their lives, Canine Dimensions is one of the very rare franchise opportunities that can make this a truly happy holiday season for any entrepreneur who is looking to begin a life-long career in a job they will truly love!
