Get Your Christmas Freak On! Kiss Someone Under The Mistletoe

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Most people know if they are caught under the mistletoe to kiss the person next to them, but many don`t know it grows from bird droppings, a U.S. botanist says.

Sylvia Orli of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington said the word mistletoe is from the Anglo-Saxon word mist` or `mistel,` meaning dung, and `tan,` meaning twig, or `dung twig,` because mistletoe is mostly spread by birds through their droppings."

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but kissing under the dung twig just doesn`t have the same ring.

Not only does mistletoe grow from bird droppings, but it`s a parasite that invades the living branch of a host tree and absorbs food and water from the branch.

Kissing under such a dreadful twig may be a curse, I wouldn`t advise kissing your wife or significant other under the mistletoe. But by all means kiss the office floozy or the town tramp under the mistletoe. Get the new temp drunk and steer her to the mistletoe, Christmas comes around just once a year.

Merry Christmas to all my readers; find someone to kiss under the mistletoe!
