Electricity Protest turns violent in Indian Kashmir, 1 killed 2 injured
Srinagar, India: One person was killed and two others were injured on Monday when Indian Security Force personnel opened fire on the Kashmiri people who were protesting against the power shortage in North Kashmir`s Baramulla area.
"Altaf Ahmad Sood (25) died in the firing and two others are injured," an police official told Agence India Press.
He further said a group of around 500 persons were protesting outside the central-run Uri power project at Boniyar against the shortage of electricity in the area.
"The State government has taken up the matter with the Union Home Ministry and lodged a protest and demanded stern exemplary action against the delinquent officers," the spokesman said.
