By Robert Paul Reyes

"Guns were more likely than ever to land beneath Christmas trees in 2011, as the FBI reported record-breaking firearm sales in the days leading up to the holiday."

Christmas is the time of the year to meditate on world peace and goodwill toward all men, it`s the season to make amends and make a difference for good in the world.

There`s always a lot of baby dolls, stuffed animals, warm sweaters under the Christmas tree, but this year there`s a lot of shotguns, AK-47`s and 44 Magnum`s.

We may think of heavenly choirs, warm puppy dogs and performing random acts of kindness during the holiday season, but our survival instinct is with us all the time.

There is nothing unseemly or morally suspect about buying a gun during the holiday season. Christmas is all about spending time with your family, what better way to protect your loved ones than by purchasing a firearm? If a criminal had gone down my chimney on Christmas, I would have wished him a Merry Christmas, and then blasted him straight to hell with my shotgun.

In these hard economic times municipalities are making hard choices, and sometimes that means laying off police officers. Only a fool will really only on 911 for protection, by the time the police arrive you may be another statistic if you don`t have a gun.

The Maya prophecy that the world, as we know it, will end in 2012 may also have to do something with the record-breaking firearm sales.

The Maya prophecies may be bull, but the potential that the economic crisis will spike the crime rate is all too real. Protect your family and your property, buy a gun post haste.
