Burger King Testing Home Delivery! Horrible Idea!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Burger King the No. 2 burger chain, has quietly begun testing home delivery of its burgers, fries and other sandwiches since fall at four of its restaurants in the greater Washington, D.C., area, with an eye on expanding beyond that."

When you think of home delivery, pizzas and Chinese food comes to mind. These types of cuisine are delivered in iconic containers, the Chinese take out box with the metal handle and the steaming pizza box conjure feelings of fun and great taste. Hamburgers and fries delivered in a soggy greasy bag or in a Styrofoam container just isn`t the same.

Burger King promises delivery within 30 minutes, but there`s no way in hell that a Big Whopper and fries will be warm and fresh after so much time has elapsed. You can warm up a pizza that`s delivered a bit late and it will still taste delicious, but if you warm up a burger and fries even your pooch won`t touch the unholy mess.

A minimum order of $8 is required, and there`s a $2 delivery fee. The grub at Burger King is already overpriced; I might pay a delivery fee for a pizza or an order of Chinese food, but not for a limp hamburger and soggy fries.

I`m going to have it my way, and that means having a pizza delivered from Domino`s -- not home delivery from Burger King!
