Hindus to Showcase Contributions to New Zealand Society

By SOP newswire

New Zealand Hindus are gathering on May 12-13 in Auckland to showcase the Hindu contribution to New Zealand society.

Theme of this "New Zealand Hindu Conference", being organized by Hindu Council of New Zealand, is Serving Community " Serving New Zealand". It will reportedly attempt to provide a platform for Hindu organizations, temples, philanthropists and volunteers functioning in New Zealand, to bring forth their activities. Various service areas to be covered include education, media, health and social and community work, besides illustrating youth involvement.

Welcoming the efforts to bring Hindu groups together to serve the community, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this Conference and various New Zealand Hindu organizations, temples and individual activists would focus in this direction.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.
