Conservative Activist & Blogger Andrew Breitbart Dead At 43

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Andrew Breitbart, a well-known conservative blogger, has died, his attorney said Thursday. He was 43.

Joel Pollak, editor-in-chief and in-house counsel for Breitbart`s website, Breitbart.com, confirmed his death."

Breitbart is best known for posting the infamous Twitter photos of U.S. Rep Anthony Weiner last year, in which he appeared barechested and in his drawers.

But Breitbart had been a influential and powerful presence on the Internet for a long time. The conservative blogger helped get the Drudge Report off the ground, before launching several right-leaning Web sites of his own.

Breitbart was a researcher for liberal commentator Arianna Huffington, and helped launch her website The Huffington Post.

I`m a liberal, but I admired Breitbart`s tireless energy, his passion for the Internet as a tool to change the world, and his fearless commitment to publishing what he considered the truth.

He made mistakes, most notably when he posted a heavily edited video clip of Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod, which made her appear to say that she discriminated against white people who came to her for assistance.

Breitbart helped make the Internet what it is today, and as a writer who has his own soapbox on the Net I mourn his passing.
