An Extra Moment: The Best Sporting Event America Never Saw
2012 has given us a fair and decent number of sporting events. From some very interesting College Bowl games to the beginning of a crazy NBA season, to an incredible series of events in one of the premier NASCAR events in the US, through an exciting College Hoops season tha has culminated in an unpredictable March Madness, sports fans have had plenty to choose from.
However, lost in all these galaxies of games and superstars is an event that might have been ignored for obvious reasons but was perhaps the best event America didn`t have the opportunity to watch and enjoy. It was a Boxing championship bout.
Orlando Salido (Mexico) and Juan Manuel Lopez staged one of the best rematch fights in a while, and a strong candidate for Fight of the Year. In the background of this Featherweight title event lays a rivalry between two countries rich in sports tradition.
Boxing has been flooded with controversy over the years, and it no longer holds strong interest in mainstream America. Add the fact that this fight didn`t have the glamorous and attractive names like Pacquiao or Mayweather and it becomes understandably obvious why this fight might have flown under the radar.
Accompany Kenny R on his travel through a boxing fight that restored his personal faith and interest in the sport and how ill conceived comments by the loser of the bout and the potential outcome that never was but could have been tarnished that faith once more. Take An Extra Moment to live through it all!
