Dude Argues: Swimming Au Naturel In Public Beach Is Performance Art! Hogwash!
"Patrick Scully and the city of Minneapolis agree on one thing: his naked midday swim at Sweeney Beach was more than a refreshing dip on a hot July day.
Scully, a longtime performance artist and crusader for an au naturel lifestyle, says it`s art -- an extension of his vision to live in a world where we`re no longer afraid of our bodies. The Minneapolis Park Police officers who gave Scully a ticket say it`s a misdemeanor, punishable by a $125 fine."
A jury of six will decide who is right."
Why is it always old men who take off their clothes in public? Why can`t just once a beautiful young woman decide to strip in a public beach?
To argue that swimming naked in a public beach is art is quite a stretch. If that`s performance art then I should be able to argue that punching Scully for exposing himself in front of children is art criticism.
I find nothing artistic about a 6-7, 58-year-old man disrobing in a public beach. If Scully is so anxious to expose himself, he should take nude photos of himself and publish them online where adults can view them. Children and those of us with good taste shouldn`t be forced to see his wrinkled old body.
I hope the jury will do the right thing!
