University Student Sues To Keep Her Guinea Pig In Her Dorm Room

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Michigan student (Kendra Velzen),is suing Grand Valley State University for the right to keep her guinea pig, which she says is an emotional support animal, on campus.

Velzen suffers from chronic depression and her psychologist wrote her a prescription for an emotional support animal.

The Fair Housing Center said the school is required by law to accommodate students coping with disabilities"

No pets are allowed at on-campus student housing, and the university refuses to make an exception for Velzen. A typical dormitory is no place for a pet, there is too much noise, confusion and craziness for a cat, dog, guinea pig or a human being.

If Velzen loves her guinea pig, she shouldn`t subject the animal to the the insane atmosphere of a university dorm.

If Velzen suffers from chronic depression she and her guinea pig should move to a more quiet off-campus location.

The guinea pig will be more conducive to providing emotional support to Velzen, if it isn`t all stressed out from the 24/7 partying that goes on in a college dorm.
