Breaking News: Dick Clark Dead At 82
Dick Clark, America`s oldest teenager, has died at the age of 82 of a massive heart attack.
Clark was best known for hosting the long-running TV show "American Bandstand" and for hosting the game show "Pyramid" and of course for his "Dick Clark`s New Year`s Rockin` Eve."
Before MTV there was "American Bandstand", which premiered on ABC in 1957, by the time I was a teenager the show was still going strong, and I watched and danced to it every Saturday until I was a young man.
"It has a good beat and you can dance to it" became a national catchphrase, if one of the young kids reviewing records on "American Bandstand" uttered the magic phrase, nine times out of ten the single would go on to become a hit.
"Bandstand" was must-see TV on Saturdays in the 70`s and 80`s and his New Year`s Eve show was also required viewing for teens and young adults up to the present time.
Dick Clark was the perfect teenager, never had acne, never made a false move, and he played the top hits every Saturday.
Dick Clark is now hosting "Heaven`s Bandstand", and every song he plays has a good beat and you can dance to it.
